Rosalie (M-G-M, 1937)
Eleanor Powell in the midst of a spectacular whirling leap…in the Drum Dance of M-G-M’s Rosalie, a terpsichorean novelty in which the tap-dancing champion starts from a pile of drums twenty-five feet high and taps her way down a descending series of drums. Spice of danger was added to the actual taking of this number because heavy dew on the night of “shooting” moistened the tops as fast as protecting canvasses were removed, making the surface extremely slippery, and dangerous for the fast-flying feet of the star. Miss Powell co-stars in the picture with Nelson Eddy under the direction of W.S. Van Dyke.
